At your first meeting you will be told how we calculate our charges. This is always done in observance of French statutory law (Statute No. 71-1130 of 31 December 1971 and Statute No. 2015-990 of 06 August 2015).
COMMON TYPES OF FEE ARRANGEMENTS
Hourly Rate
The law firm will charge you for each hour (or portion of an hour) that it works on your case.
Flat Fees
A flat fee is usually offered only if your case is relatively simple or routine.
Contingency fees
The fee is based on a percentage of the amount awarded in the case. Under French law, this type of fee is permitted only as a corollary to a hourly rate fee or to a flat fee.
Subscription fees
The firm will charge you a lump sum on a monthly basis when it intervenes on a regular basis.
The legal fees are exclusive of VAT. VAT rates applicable to legal services in Continental France and in Overseas France (French Guyana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mayotte, La Réunion) are 20% and 8.5% respectively. French Guyana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mayotte and La Réunion are comprised in the customs territory of the European Union. All French Overseas Départements use the Euro as currency.
